Things to do this October in Aberdeen

October holiday Aberdeen

The October holidays are here, the nights are drawing in and the pumpkins are out! So what can we expect in Aberdeen this October to make the most of the season?

Autumnal walks

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a crisp autumnal walk and at Grandhome we’re lucky to have so many places to explore nearby. Whether it’s local Scotstown Moor or a more strenuous hike up Bennachie, there’s a something for everyone.

For a truly autumnal walk try the Falls of Feugh in Banchory. If you’re lucky, you may even see the salmon leap!

Beach sunrises

If you’re an early bird, sunrises are one of the most special things about this time of year. The best place to catch an amazing sunrise is the beach, so take a trip to Aberdeen beach or Balmedie beach to enjoy your early morning coffee with a difference.

Visit local attractions

Famous the world over, Balmoral Castle is just an hour’s drive from Grandhome and is open daily until the end of October.

If you want to experience some magic, look no further than the enchanting Craigievar Castle. The castle itself is currently closed but the grounds are open and ready to explore.

Farmers’ market

Looking for something to do this weekend? The Bridge of Don Farmers’ Market is being held by the Bridge of Don & District Men’s Shed at Corunna Road on Saturday, 16 October. Look no further for local produce and gifts.

Autumn activities at home

Sometimes the best way to spend a crisp day is wrapped up indoors. If you have little ones, why not collect some autumn leaves on one of your local walks and bring them home to create some autumn art? Whether it’s a card for a loved one or an autumn garland to bring the outdoors in, there’s plenty you can do with some leaves and sticks – look here for some inspiration.

Whatever you do this October, be sure to let us know over on the Grandhome Community Facebook page.
