Why Grandhome is the perfect place for First Time Buyers

new build home Aberdeen

Buying your first home is very exciting, but it can seem a little overwhelming when there are so many different options and things to consider.

Recent changes to legislation and taxes mean that now is a great time to get your foot on the property ladder. Purchasing a home during lockdown might seem difficult, but Grandhome has welcomed many new residents in recent months, the majority of which had recognised the need for more living and working space, green space and a sense of community.

We’ve taken a look at all of the reasons that Grandhome is the perfect place for First Time Buyers. Plus, as part of the economic measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scottish Government has removed Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) meaning any properties purchased before 31 March 2021, up to the value of £250,000, won’t require tax payment.

Location, Location, Location

Location is a key factor when purchasing a home. For some, proximity to facilities like shops is really important, while for others, the countryside being on hand is a must.

Located just a short walk from Bridge of Don facilities and transport links as well as open green space for walking and cycling, Grandhome is the ideal mix of a city and country lifestyle.

Living in the community, residents have easy access to a range of retail stores as well as schools and Grandhome’s very own Banana Moon nursery, perfect for young families.

The Great Outdoors

The past year has shown us how important getting out and exploring our local area is for both our physical and mental health. Grandhome is a short walk or cycle from open green spaces like Scotstown Moor or Donmouth Nature Reserve, as well as having a number of green spaces including a park situated within the community itself.

A multi-use outdoor space, Davidston Square, home to Davidston Pavilion, is available to residents year-round and will be used to host events in the future.

To encourage people to explore the local area during lockdown, we created a Grandhome Scavenger Hunt, with residents spotting lots of resident flora and fauna in the vast green space.

As Grandhome grows, green space will be woven into the community; the masterplan includes more than twice as much green space as required by planning standards. The plan preserves key elements of the site to create safe corridors for local wildlife and ample space for residents to enjoy the outdoors.
